About Me
I have been passionately teaching American Sign Language since 1996 and providing interpretation services since the same year. I became certified in 2023 and have actively pursued numerous training opportunities, attending hundreds of workshops to enhance my skills in both teaching and interpreting.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working with several agencies in the DC Metro Washington area. My dedication to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community has led me to teach at Kendall Demonstration Elementary School, the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, and the Delaware School for the Deaf.
In addition to my work in the United States, I also had the unique opportunity to teach American Sign Language as a second language to both Deaf and hearing individuals in Tokyo for three years. This experience broadened my perspective and deepened my passion for facilitating communication and fostering understanding across diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
I've also worked closely with children, teaching linguistics, cultural awareness, and identity development. I have collaborated with teachers and staff to support their students, particularly in the areas of hand, eye, and body coordination. Additionally, I have attended meetings and provided presentations to families to ensure the best possible educational experience for their children.
Beyond teaching and interpreting, I have also led several workshops, sharing my expertise in ASL, Deaf culture, and education with professionals, educators, and the community.
