About This Course

Take your ASL skills to the next level with expert instruction from ASL Pros. Taught by experienced and certified ASL interpreters, linguists, and practitioners, this course is designed to provide participants with rewarding results as they advance in their ASL journey.

8 One-hour Live Remote Group Classes on Zoom

  • ASL Vocabulary Refresher Course (1st Session)

  • 7 Sessions of Targeted Skill Development

Course Description

This first course in the intermediate series builds upon beginner-level knowledge to expand expressive and receptive ASL skills through engaging real-world topics. Participants will refine their ASL grammar and visual communication discovery by learning how to:​

​

✅ Express and respond to offers, problems, and requests for help

✅ Communicate satisfaction, dissatisfaction, agreement, and disagreement

✅ Use conditional sentences to express emotional and physical states

✅ Discuss food, drink, daily activities, future plans, and obligations​​

​

​

Additionally, students will continue to explore Deaf culture and visual cultural norms, including the significance of accessibility including closed captions and sign language interpreters. Lessons include structured storytelling, interactive activities, and guided practice to build confidence and fluency.

Intermediate ASL 2

Building Confidence in ASL Communication

About This Course

Continue developing your ASL skills with Intermediate ASL 2, the second course in our three-part intermediate series. This course expands on foundational knowledge, focusing on clarity, accuracy, and confidence in everyday conversations.

9 One-hour Live Remote Group Classes on Zoom

    •    Review of ASL 1 Content (1 Session)

    •    8 Sessions of Advanced Skill Application

Course Description

Participants will strengthen their receptive and expressive fluency through engaging lessons designed to enhance descriptive and conversational abilities. Key learning areas include:

​

✅ Confirming information and discussing time and place

✅ Expressing boredom, opinions, and opposing values

✅ Introducing fingerspelling to improve spelling accuracy

✅ Giving directions, instructions, and descriptions of places

✅ Communicating about seasonal and recreational activities

✅ Discussing attitudes, advice, and opinions of others

Through interactive activities, real-world scenarios, and structured practice, students will improve precision, fluency, and confidence in ASL communication.

Intermediate ASL 3

Refining ASL Grammar & Fluency

About This Course

The final course in the Intermediate ASL series, this ten-session program is designed to help participants achieve fluency in ASL grammar and confidently engage in complex conversations. Upon successful completion, students will be eligible for Advanced Level ASL instruction.

10 One-hour Live Remote Group Classes on Zoom

  • ASL 1-2 Vocabulary Refresher (1 Session)

  • 8 Sessions of Vocabulary & Practice

  • Preview of Advanced ASL Series (1 Session)

Course Description

Students will refine their ASL grammar, expand their vocabulary, and develop their storytelling and conversational skills with a focus on real-world application. Key topics include:

​

✅ Qualifications, conditions, and stipulations in communication

✅ Discussing travel, places, experiences, and occupations

✅ Job activity and work history conversations

✅ Using rhetorical questions effectively in ASL

✅ Expressing current events and translating English dialogues into ASL

✅ Utilizing “never” & “nothing” as denials

✅ Understanding Deaf people’s communicative strategies with non-signers

✅ Vocabulary related to health, emergencies, and physical conditioning

✅ Describing width, length, height, and distances in ASL

Through structured lessons, storytelling exercises, and role-playing activities, students will master essential ASL grammar structures and become more confident, fluent signers.
