Pace Level Descriptions
“Pace Levels” assigned to ASL Pros courses and programs indicate the expected speed and intensity of learning for Participants. Pace Level descriptions help learners understand the workload, time commitment, and difficulty of a course before enrolling. They also assist instructors in structuring their teaching approach accordingly.
Pace Level: A
Flexible Pace
This unstructured, adaptive pace is designed to adjust to the needs and goals of the participants. Rather than following a set structure, the course evolves based on student input, allowing for a flexible yet beneficial learning experience. Whether you need reinforcement in specific areas, want to explore new ASL topics, or prefer a practical approach, the instructor tailors each session to match the group’s priorities. Designed for a collaborative environment, the pace ensures that every session remains engaging, relevant, and aligned with participants’ evolving skill levels and interests.
Pace Level: B
Casual Pace
Designed to align with the pace of community-level ASL courses, this option accommodates students at various skill levels, adapting to their progress and development to ensure that no learner is left behind. Instructors are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment, actively engaging all students, and providing support tailored to individual abilities and learning needs.
Pace Level: C
Moderate Pace
This course offers a dynamic learning experience that transitions between a relaxed, community-level pace and a more structured, goal-oriented approach. The speed of instruction will vary throughout the course, balancing foundational skill-building with periods of increased intensity to encourage steady progress. This level is ideal for students who are comfortable with a flexible pace but are also ready to engage in more focused learning moments. Instructors provide guidance tailored to participants’ evolving skill levels, ensuring a well-rounded and adaptable learning journey.
Pace Level: D
Intentional Pace
This course follows a structured pace comparable to a college-level ASL 101 course, balancing the instructor’s planned curriculum with the progression of participants. While maintaining a steady and goal-oriented learning experience, the course ensures that students stay on track with key concepts and skill development. Participants are encouraged to take an active role in their learning and can reach out to their instructor via email at any time for questions, guidance, and additional support.
Pace Level: E
Accelerated Pace
This course offers a learning experience positioned between the steady progression of an intentional-paced course and the intensity of a swift-paced program. Designed for highly motivated learners, this level challenges participants to engage deeply with ASL, refining their skills through structured instruction, active practice, and immersive language exposure. Ideal for individuals with prior ASL experience, strong language-learning abilities, or a commitment to rapid language acquisition, this course maintains a little bit of a more rigorous pace while allowing for instructor support and participant engagement. To help learners adjust to the demands of the course, a free introductory session is offered to assess readiness.
